Professor Dr. Mohamed Aslam was appointed a member of the Investment Committee on  1 January 2016.  He is currently a Professor of Economics at the Economics Department and Director, Centre for Islamic Economics at the International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM) in Kuala Lumpur. He previously served as an Investment Committee member of a local fund management company for 13 years from September 2001 to October 2014.

He was in the pioneer batch of Bachelor of Economics (Hons) graduates from IIUM in 1987, obtained his Master’s degree in Economics from University Malaya in 1991. He received his PhD in 1994 from the School of Development Studies, University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. He was conferred with Associate Professor in 2000 and Professor in 2006.

Mohamed Aslam is also an executive committee member of the International Association for Islamic Economics (IAEI) and an executive committee member of the International Council of Islamic Finance Educators (ICIFE). He has written a number of books, articles, chapters in books and book reviews.
